We took a train to Venice from Florence on Friday, then a Vaporetto to our stop where we met a representative of Venice Rentals who took us to our home away from home here in Venice. We are about ten minutes walking from San Marco Square. I thought it would be too close but it is just fine. It is a quiet neighborhood.
The apartment is really nice; was refurbished and contains things not usually found in Italian apartments. We enjoy coming home to make dinner. The refrigerator is a good size and there is a nice washing machine. The dryer is via clothesline outside! Some photos of the apartment follow.
We urgently needed clean clothes so did our washing and hung it out in the sun. Then we found the Punta grocery store and purchased groceries, wine, walking it all home in big bags.
After many of the day trippers left we went out to walk to San Marco Square. This is Cary’s first visit to Venice so it is fun to watch his reactions to this very different city.
San Marco Square at nighttime is quite nice. I had to see one of my lions in the Square.
One of our visits was to a mask shop….not the cheapie ones but a Venetian mask shop where they make them there.
This is getting long so I will close with a couple photos of a park in Venice that we found. People were walking around and the dogs looked very content to have grass!!

Wonderful. Such a surprise to see trees and grass!
I know……I have not seen grass here before.
