Burano is an island in the lagoon near Venice. We arrived on a vaporetto from Murano which took about 1/2 hour. It is a sleepy little village which is nice as Venice gets to be quite hectic.
The houses are all painted pastel colors. This is a fishing village, besides being known for its lace. There are a couple lacemakers left but mostly I believe the lace is made elsewhere.
I just love the colors so have lots of photos! Even some of the clothes they sell are pastel.
There is also a lace museum which has reopened after renovations.
It took a good 45 minutes to get back to Venice on a very packed vaporetto. It it is a great side trip from Venice.
Ciao!
